We had a dream... a dream of an English medium school for our orphaned and fatherless children of Prashanti School and orphanage. As wild as this dream seemed, it actually came to fruition this past summer! An amazing opportunity presented itself to us. A property adjacent to our playground was generously offered to us at less than half the appraised value.
To make this dream a reality, it was necessary to take out a short-term loan. Now we need your immediate help to pay off this loan of $35,000. We are hoping for another miracle!The property consists of 1-1/2 acres with four buildings – three for classrooms and one for the school office. One of these buildings will also serve as a college hostel for boys. Three of the buildings are in good condition, needing only upgrades, and the fourth is in the process of being completed. Instead of an empty lot that would require years to develop, we were “handed” a property ideally suited for our new school. See photos of the new school Our main focus is to provide the best education possible for our children. In addition, children from the local community will be able to attend this school, since there is no other English medium school in this area. The school fees from these outside students will help us to meet expenses for teacher salaries and for the day to day upkeep of the school. Over the years it has been our experience that when these young children are given a loving environment and an opportunity for an education, they just blossom beyond our wildest expectations. The students, as well as WFF board members, recognize how important English is for their futures. The children have no family support, and their future ability to support themselves will depend on their having a solid foundation in the English language. English is a basic requirement for good jobs in India. Previously, our students were attending the local Oriya medium government schools, where the teaching of English is very sub-standard. With your help, we can give them the skills they need to thrive and become productive and happy members of their society.
